Arts & Culture

Each year, the city hosts the Texas Jazz Festival, Festival of the Arts, and Dia de los Muertos Street Festival. On-campus events like the 'Islander Revue' give you the opportunity to join in and share your culture in an evening of performance, charity, and community.

Close to Campus

It's easy to travel between campus and downtown Corpus Christi. Buses, shuttles, and bike share are all readily available.

Throughout Corpus Christ there is a bike-share program that provides all residents and visitors with the option of short-term bike rental. These cruiser bikes are available at seven stations around the city for use by members. You can use them hourly, monthly, or even purchase an annual pass. Renting a bike can be a great way to travel across the city, or for a fun trip along one of the make bike trails along the seaside. Find out more about the available bike-share program.

The University has partnered with Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) to provide free access to the bus system. By presenting your student ID you will be able to ride any CCRTA bus for free. You can learn about TAMU-CC connection routes and all available routes on the CCRTA website.

From the Momentum Campus you can take Islander Shuttle to campus. The shuttle is free to ride for all students with a valid student ID, and travels between the Momentum Campus and the Island Campus Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters.

Travel Further

Corpus Christi is only a short distance from many large cities, and local airports make it easy to travel throughout the state. You can also travel internationally from one of the larger airports.

By car you can easily travel to San Antonio in two hours where you can see the famous River Walk and the Alamo. San Antonio is also home to a number of theaters, cathedrals, museums, and amusement parks.

Austin is three hours away by car and famous for its art and culture. There is a vibrant music, film, and culinary scene.

From Corpus Christi International Airport you can quickly travel to many southern cities. Direct flights are available to Dallas and Houston, where you can take a connecting flight to almost anywhere in the USA. Some shorter trips include flights to New Orleans and Orlando.

Houston is also home to George Bush Intercontinental Airport, an international airport offering travel throughout the USA and abroad.
